Richard Bukowski, P.E., FSFPE, Senior Consultant based in the Baltimore area office of RJA, recently had an article published in the June 2010 issue of Fire Protection Engineering Emerging Trends enewsletter. “Applications of Elevators for Occupant Egress in Fires” discusses how following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, which highlighted the difficulty in evacuating tall buildings, elevators are being used as viable means of egress during an emergency.
