Baldassarra receives Joseph B. Finnegan Award from SFPE

Carl Baldassarra, P.E., FSFPE, Executive Vice President, was recently awarded the Joseph B. Finnegan Award by the Chicago Chapter of SFPE (Society of Fire Protection Engineers). This annual award is given to an individual in the Chicago area to recognize their service and contributions to the fire protection engineering industry. Named after the head of the fire protection engineering curriculum at Armour Institute and Illinois Institute of Technology, this award was presented to Carl on December 7, 2009 at the Chicago Chapter’s annual awards luncheon.
Carl, formerly the president of Schirmer Engineering, is extremely active in the fire protection and life safety community serving on multiple committees of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the International Code Council (ICC). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences and on the steering committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
In addition, Carl serves as a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers’ Editorial Advisory Board and is a Vice President of the SFPE Board of Directors. He is a member of the Underwriters’ Laboratories Fire Council, a member of the Worchester Polytechnic Institute Fire Protection Engineering Advisory Board and a member of the University of Maryland’s Board of Advisors, Fire Protection Engineering Curriculum.
