Dick Bukowski was awarded the 2012 Arthur B. Guise Medal and gave a lecture by the same name at the 2012 SFPE Annual Meeting in October of this year.
The award recognized advancements in technical excellence and science in the field of fire protection engineering. Bukowski has conducted research with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and has over 35 years of experience in fire protection engineering with a concentration in government projects.
“The award was presented to Bukowski for his research supporting the development of codes, standards and the implementation of smoke alarms,” said SFPE Engineering Program Manager Chris Jelenewicz. “Additionally, his work improved the safety of elevators for use as a means of evacuation during fires or use by first responders.”
